Silicon is taken up by plants as silicic acid and deposited in cell walls as silica, where it contributes to structural rigidity in stems, leaves, and fruit tissue. In hydroponic growing environments, where silicon is absent from most nutrient formulations and unavailable from soil, supplementation is the only way to maintain adequate silicon levels in the plant. FloraMax Silica supplies silicon in two highly bioavailable forms: monosilicic acid and metasilicic acid, both fully soluble in nutrient solutions and available for uptake across the pH range typical of hydroponic systems.

The primary practical benefits are improved stem and leaf rigidity, reduced leaf wilt under heat stress, and improved fruit weight and shelf life as cell structure is reinforced through the growing period. Silica is particularly valuable during high-temperature periods: applied as both a root feed and a foliar spray at 3 ml per litre, it helps plants maintain turgid, productive foliage in ambient temperatures above 40°C where unprotected plants would otherwise wilt and reduce photosynthetic output. FloraMax Silica has a shelf life exceeding 10 years and remains fully soluble, without the gel buildup that limits the working life of most silica products on the market.

Always predilute the dose at least tenfold in water before adding to the nutrient solution and stir well to ensure even distribution.

Dose: 0.1 to 0.25 ml per litre during vegetative and flowering stages.

As a foliar spray: 3 ml per litre.

Highly concentrated, 1 litre makes 4000 to 10,000 litres of working nutrient.
