Summer is finally here, and with that comes holidays. Escaping for a summer break can be easier said than done if you are a gardener. You've got to organise a plant caretaker, and you don't want just anyone looking after your garden. An automatic system can save you from finding house sitters or organising your holiday around your garden.
Several systems are available, each with various benefits – each making life a little easier. We will run through them all below:
Blumat System: The Blumat Drip (Tropf) System doesn't need a power supply, nor does it require a timer or computer. Each ceramic cone responds to the moisture content of the surrounding soil, only releasing the amount of water needed by the plant. The Blumat Drip system is a sensor and drip feed system, both at the same time. Conventional watering systems release water at intervals which are automatically scheduled via computer. They need to consider the amount of sunshine, the current moisture of the soil or the varying water requirements of individual plants, Blumat does, and this is what sets them apart. Deciding how many Tropf Cones you need is easy -for watering planter boxes, use the rule of thumb: 4 drip locations (Tropf-Blumat) per 100 cm box length (box width- 20 cm), 3 drippers for 80 cm. For wider troughs (such as 100x40 cm), usually, 6-7 Tropf-Blumat are enough, depending on the size of the plants. For watering in pots, every plant / every pot should have 1 Tropf-Blumat. According to the pot size, 1 Tropf-Blumat is enough for pots.
Nutrifield Autofeed Systems: The Autofeed system is extremely versatile and can be used for various plants. Wilma 4 Pot Systems: The Wilma dripper system is ideal for tents and small spaces. Great value and a rock-solid reputation for reliably huge yields. The Wilma uses a timer to drip nutrient solution into the tops of the system's pots at the exact times every day, several times per day. Any run-off drains back into the reservoir, so roots don't rot. The Wilma reservoir holds between 30 and 180 Litres of nutrient solution - depending on which size Wilma you choose, so there's no need to visit your plants every day. Choose a Wilma, and you can get on with your life safely, knowing that your plants are thriving.
